Hi diva’s <3
This week I’m coming to you live from Fiji! Ok maybe not live… this is definitely pre-written BUT I am in Fiji at the time of posting weeeeee (◕‿◕✿)
I will admit, taking on this newsletter as well as posting video content AND working full-time has been a lot (angel down) but I truly do enjoy the mix not to mention the cool and funky community that we are building. So again, thank you for being here!
You may notice that this week is a little music heavy which in my opinion is.. amazing? Going to live gigs is one of my favourite things to do, whether it be a favourite band of mine or an artist/group I’m discovering for the first time. Long live live music!!!
Ok, let’s get into it.. June 23rd to 29th:
Tuesday 24th June:
NOW.HERE.THIS live at The Toff (carriage side)
“Music lovers unite at The Toff for NOW.HERE.THIS. All about nurturing Melbourne’s rich and dynamic local music community, NHT showcases and celebrates this city’s vibrant jazz scene.”
This is a weekly affair (every Tuesday) and I’m feeling extremely pulled to attend just from the poster alone? Epic.
Doors open from 5pm
9pm: DJ Colette
11.30pm aka after my bedtime: Now Here This
Tuesday 24th June:
Shaun Micallef's Eve of Destruction - Studio Audience
How do we feel about attending a live studio audience? I’ve always been intrigued but never actually done it!
Shaun Micallef’s Eve of Destruction is a comedy chat show where Shaun asks celebrity guests what two key items they would save during a hypothetical disaster.
The show is recorded at ABC Studios in Southbank and kicks off at 6pm.
Wednesday 25th June:
Dole Night at The Tote
Another venue that frequently puts on live gigs is The Tote in Collingwood. How lucky are we?? On Wednesday it’s Dole Night and features Lazerlips, Keyo Roses Flying Circus and Big Moist and The Smoking Durries (my friend Matt’s band!)
Wednesday 25th June:
Scully’s Bingo at Northcote Social Club
“NSC Presents Bingo in Front Bar, hosted by the man, the myth, the legend behind the bar… our Scully!”
What’s a week of free events without a bingo or trivia rec? (•ᴗ-)
Northcote Social Club are one of my go-to’s when seeking out things for you guys to do. Whether it be a screening of a film or bingo night, i <3 them for keeping the roster stacked.
Bingo kicks off at 7.30pm with prizes to be won!
Wednesday June 25th (yes, there is more):
Succulent Funk’s Record Club
I stumbled across Succulent Funk on instagram and it look’s super cool! Located in Northcote, the record club is a casual get together for anyone that loves music and vinyl. Everyone is encouraged to bring a record and take turns putting them on and having a chat in between.. sorrryyy?? This sounds so wholesome and cutesy!
It’s best to confirm your spot via their instagram page which is linked below.
*this is an alcohol free space but snacks are provided
Thursday June 26th:
Comedy Night at Nevermind
From 8pm every second Thursday you can catch live comedy at Hawthorn's coolest bar (in their words).
What’s not to love about a mid week giggle? Supporting the up and comers help’s them to become your future favourite joke-teller :-)
Friday 27th June:
Bubble takeover at The Toff (carriage side)
Bubble has taken over The Toff (carriage side) every Friday in June, so this week is your last chance!
Think UK garage (if that’s your buzz?) and genre-blending sounds. The perfect post-work week meet up with the pookies.
This Friday you can catch: COLDPAST
Saturday 28th June:
Music Room’s 3rd Birthday (HER)
I loveeee Music Room at HER, head there on Saturday to catch their 3rd birthday! A 10 hour party in the funkiest room in the CBD (maybe).
The lineup: Deep Heat, Le Clobber, Katharine, Edan HG, DJ Wise & Gracey
Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th June:
Hunter Markets
I’ve been meaning to go to Hunter Markets for so long so I’m including this as a reminder to myself as well! It’s family run and looks like they book some really good stalls each weekend. It’s $2 but that’s basically free in 2025, right?
Saturday & Sundays 9am - 1pm
10-12 Balcombe Rd, Mentone

That’s everything for this week - please like this post to help it to be seen by more people :)
BYE!

Re: attending a live studio audience, I went to one for the first time last week for The Cheap Seats and loved it! We got given free snacks and merch which is was much appreciated🙂↕️. I will say I found myself getting very fidgety toward the end (sitting in the same spot for around 2 hrs with no breaks was more difficult than expected lol). I reckon everyone should try it at least once though, it’s a pretty unique experience.
Succulent funk record club sounds so cool. Can’t make this week so I’ll check it out next month hopefully
